Brittany Harris, originally from Detroit, MI, began her first piano lesson at the age of 9. Quickly picking up on piano, with a great thirst for learning, she started playing the violin as well just one year later. It wasn’t long before Brittany became curious and wanted to explore the lower sounds of the string family, so by the time she was 12 years old she had begun her cello journey.
Always enrolled in performing arts schools Brittany attended Cass Technical High School as a music major, where she was actively involved in school musicals, studied ballet, multiple orchestras and ensembles, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra youth ensembles, performed as sketch comedy and improv artist, and competed in musical competitions where she was the winner of the 2008 Cass Technical High School Concerto Competition, and 2008 winner of the NAACP ACT-SO competition.

After graduation from high school Brittany attended Western Michigan University, double majoring, receiving a Bachelors in Music Education and a Bachelors in Music Performance: Cello. While in undergrad Brittany began teaching and building her own private cello studio, and worked as a orchestra conductor, cello teacher, and ensemble coach, for many music camps, string clinics, and schools in the Western Michigan area. She also regularly played in church bands as an improvisational cellist along with her university Orchestra and multiple chamber groups.
Landing a job in NYC before her graduation, in 2015, Brittany moved to Brooklyn, NY where she began teaching as a NYC Department of Education teacher. Over the years Brittany taught, orchestra, band, choir, and many other musical ensembles in the NYC Public schools. While working as a full time educator, Brittany was also building her own private teaching studio of students teaching cello, violin, viola, bass, piano, and voice, music theory.
In 2016 Brittany revisited her sketch comedy and improv days and briefly reassembled with her high school sketch comedy group (The Performing Arts Guild), except the newly formed group performed as “The Guild” performing in NYC and Detroit, and even holding a residency at the People’s improv Theater Group.
In 2022 Brittany received her Masters in Music Theory and Composition: Film Scoring from New York University. Soon after graduating, Brittany began working as a film composer, sound designer and music metadata analyst in music production library companies.
When Brittany isn’t composing, she regularly performs as a studio recording cellist, touring freelance cellist all around the Tri-state area. Having performed with many different orchestras, bands, and ensembles, Brittany has performed in multiple major venues such as Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Carnegie Hall, The Apollo Theatre, The Lincoln Center performing with artists such as A$AP Rocky "Don't Be Dumb" (Music Video), Shawn Mendez, Busta Rhymes, El Debarge, Lalah Hathaway, Liam Gallager, Rick Ross, Kathy Sledge, Salt N Peppa, Lloyd, Iyanla Vanzent, and many more.
Currently Brittany is the cellist for the Off Broadway Pop/Opera "Blood/Love", a freelance composer and sound designer, singer/songwriter, producer, music copyist, transcriber/arranger. Having worked on different projects in film, media, Off Broadway. Some of Brittany's most recent work includes Sound Designer for the Off Broadway show of "Machinal" directed by Amy Stiedell, and three newly released singles "Black Blossom", "On You". and "Dog On My Shoulder" streaming on all music streaming platforms.
